Committee for Agriculture (COAG) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) works to build better policies for better lives. By working closely with stakeholders along the entire value chain, the OECD ensures an exchange of knowledge, experience and best practices between countries by providing a wide range of advisory documents, analyses, tools and data. Its goal is to make agriculture more productive, sustainable and resilient.

The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) is the office responsible for the OECD. The Federal Office for Agriculture (FOAG) represents Switzerland within the Committee for Agriculture (COAG) and in its working groups (Working Group on Agricultural Policies and Markets, Joint Working Group on Agriculture and Trade, Joint Working Group on Agriculture and the Environment) as well as in more technical groups (Seed Schemes, Network on Illegal Trade in Pesticides, Food Chain Analysis Network). The FOAG also represents Switzerland within the Working Group on Rural Development.

The OECD publishes two benchmark reports annually:

  • The Agricultural Policy Monitoring and Evaluation report documents and analyses developments in agricultural policy and provides up-to-date estimates of agricultural support (the Producer and Consumer Support Estimates) and the environmental performance of agriculture.
  • The OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook report presents medium-term market forecasts for national, regional and international agricultural products.

For more information on recent OECD publications in the areas of agriculture and nutrition, see the OECD iLibrary.
