Focus
Free trade between Switzerland and the EU
Switzerland and the EU have been in the process of negotiating an agreement covering agriculture, food safety, product safety and public health since the autumn of 2008. The negotiations in each area are conducted by the federal office responsible.
WTO
Director-General Pascal Lamy stated on 17 December 2008 that "concluding the Round should remain our focus in 2009 but this endeavor takes place within a more global portfolio of WTO activities". He proposed immediate resumption of work across all negotiating groups in the new year, as well as "on the wider WTO front" (Source: WTO)
