The federal government uses various instruments, such as specific direct payments, to promote certain agricultural services. The FOAG also supports concrete projects, assists with operational measures for structural improvement and promotes rural development. Additionally, it provides financial aid, including livestock subsidies and contributions to crop production.
Direct payments
The federal government promotes agriculture’s public services through direct payments. Agriculture contributes to the secure food supply for the population, the preservation of natural resources and the maintenance of the cultural landscape.
Project funding
A variety of projects can receive funding under agricultural legislation in different thematic areas. The FOAG’s project funding covers an extremely broad spectrum, from preliminary investigations of innovative projects to animal breeding.
