Agricultural market, trade and preferential free trade agreements

<
>

International agricultural trade is characterized by strongly interconnected value chains. This interdependence of agricultural markets has a direct impact on Swiss agriculture.

Per capita, Switzerland is one of the most important importers of agricultural products in the world. However, products of the Swiss agricultural sector are also exported all over the world. Furthermore, the processing of agricultural raw materials traditionally plays an important role in Switzerland. Hence, for Switzerland modern and comprehensive international agreements for agricultural trade are relevant. Also, knowledge of the development of markets in the medium term are of importance.
