Sustainable Food Systems

Together with South Africa, WWF International and the Dutch development NGO Hivos, Switzerland (FOAG) is managing a global multi-stakeholder initiative whose aim is to accelerate the transition to more sustainable consumption and production patterns in agriculture and the food industry.

A systematic approach has been chosen to achieve this aim: sustainability throughout the entire value-added chain, i.e. from farm to fork. The initiative aims to put into practice specific activities and projects whose purpose is to improve awareness among the general public, increase capacity and provide access to knowledge and information, as well as to strengthen partnerships. The main aspects of the initiative include promoting sustainable food production and avoiding food wastage.
