Demand for meat substitutes is growing

Bern, 17 may 2021: Against the backdrop of climate change and the consumer trend towards an increasingly meat-free diet, sales of meat substitutes have become established in the Swiss retail sector in recent years. To date, however, no comprehensive overview of the Swiss market has been available. How has demand for meat substitutes developed in recent years? What is the potential for Swiss agriculture and the economy? The Federal Office for Agriculture has analysed the market for meat substitutes in the Swiss retail sector from various perspectives: answers are provided by the first Swiss Meat Substitutes Report.
