Since 2020, operators that import or place on the Swiss market goods requiring a phytosanitary certificate (non-EU countries) or plant passport (Switzerland and EU) have been required to register with the SPPS. Also required to register are international transport companies (persons and goods), postal services and companies offering their goods via means of distance communication (e.g. online commerce).
Mandatory registration is designed, in particular, to enable the SPPS to transmit to these operators information on new phytosanitary regulations and risks (e.g. in the event of an outbreak of a quarantine pest).
Since 2020, international airports, international transport companies, postal services and companies offering their goods via means of distance communication have been required to make information available to their customers (in the form of posters, flyers, etc.) at suitable locations and on their websites.
